Exploring craftsmanship has been my lifelong journey. I built a house including cabinets, vanities, and doors from a barn which we carefully dismantled. Custom tile and stone work in home construction and restoration opened another creative chapter.
I now combine these building skills with my love of nature. Inspired by wood recovered mostly from Vermont forests and riverbanks, my sculptures strive to capture the beauty and powerful grace of birds in a natural setting.
Constantly advancing the sculpting technique by discovering new materials and techniques to enhance a bird is part of exploring this unknown territory. A heron was built around a palm leaf which I thought would be a perfect tail. “No one is doing this!” is a common response to my work.
