Kathy Litchfield - Fiber Artist & Weaver
Master Weaver Kathleen Litchfield’s work is about the interplay of colors, combined within simple or complex weave structures, inspired by nature and the magical world around us. Her scarves, shawls, ponchos and home textiles are unusual in their colorways, unique in their design and infused with the positive energy that Kathy exudes. Almost every piece is one-of-a-kind and woven with the intention of offering beautiful wearable or home enhancing art to individuals expressing their own beauty in the world we share.
Inspired by a trip to Old Sturbridge Village as a child, Kathy learned to weave in her 20s and turned her hobby into a professional career a decade later. She earned her master’s in weaving certificate from the 6-year program at the Hill Institute in Northampton, Mass. in June, 2018. She is always embracing new weave structures and learning new things, which keeps weaving a lifelong and joyful pursuit.
Kathy has been a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen since 2016, and of the Maine Guild of Artisans and the Vermont 802ArtsHouse since 2023. She sells her work at high-end juried shows throughout the Northeast and beyond, as well as at several of the League of the NH Craftsmen galleries, at Epoch Gallery in Manchester, VT, the Southern Vermont Arts Center Museum Shop in Manchester, VT and at the Depot Gallery in Ludlow, VT.
Previous careers have included newspaper reporter, freelance magazine writer, graphic designer, non-profit program manager, organic farmer and food co-op board administrator, human resources associate and marketing manager.
